A Walking Workshop for Ages 4-10

Join us for a journey into the natural world and the power of sharing our words!

Step into nature with your hand-crafted journal. 
Decorate and create your very own nature journal, intended for drawing nature observations.

Explore plants and animals. 
Take a walk to the farm to observe and sketch things in nature that you feel a natural connection with. Watercolor paints are available to beautify drawings. 

Tell their tale through poetry or story. 
Write a poem or short story from the perspective of a plant or animal. 

Stay to play and eat lunch together.
Enjoy connection with friends while nurturing our bodies with food.

Jess Engel

Nature Guide & Educator

Jess has decades of experience in early childhood classrooms as a Montessori teacher, supervisor and director.  In addition, she built and grew a company with services for children with neurodiverse abilities, nationwide. In the last few years, she has been serving inclusive and diverse environments for children attending private or homeschool, including 1:1 student and parenting support. Her deeper commitment to women, as a birth and death doula, has taught her the importance to learn from nature about life force, itself.

Jess is a lover of botany, insects and other animals. She uses nature to offer lessons for peace, emotional regulation and mindfulness. Jess and her wife live in Poway, have 5 adult children, 2 grandchildren, and 2 dogs. They are co-creating a sanctuary for children and families to explore and enjoy nature.
