In July and August of 2023, we collaborated with local hubs of regenerative activity to provide immersive learning opportunities for kids aged 4-18, with an emphasis on resource consciousness, creative literacy, soil health, functional movement, and community building.
We've mapped a route through town designed to turn heads and hearts toward the essential arts of creative literacy, resource management, and environmental stewardship.

While some of our curriculum elements will evolve over time, every place we visit holds rich opportunities for hand-writing, hand-building, and hands-on learning in direct connection to the natural world. Embodiment is our primary objective.​

Each day also hold ample space for fundamental movement (including silly dance parties), songs, and stories. We'll share, and reflect. We'll keep asking questions. And we'll drink plenty of water.

Other learning objectives include (and are unlimited to):

  • Increased awareness and care for the local ecosystem
  • Improved confidence with creative self-expression
  • An embodied sense for the interconnectedness of life
  • A new (or renewed) excitement about reading and writing
  • A new (or renewed) passion for the earth sciences
  • New friends and a lot of fun!

On Mammalia Monday, meet the flora and fauna of Southern California as we learn the art and science of regenerative grazing! Goats and sheep are excellent for ecological fire prevention, soil health, and the human spirit.

On Tell-Me Tuesday we visit a backyard sanctuary filled with healing plants, crystals, fairy gnomes, stories, songs, and drums. We'll take soil samples, learn about composting, and begin to weave a new narrative about the health of our planet.

On Wormy Wednesday, join us at Paradise Found's G-Street location, where we'll learn about urban ecosystem restoration by transforming a small plot of land. We also take a 5-minute walk to help prepare compost with South Bay Sustainable Communities!

On Thriving Thursday, discover the beauty flowing through our waste streams; fallen trees are just the beginning! In addition to meeting the chickens and tending the garden, we'll use reclaimed materials to build puppets, props, and other elements to bring our story to life.

Pop-Up Showcase

On Friendly Friday, we take concepts and words off the page and onto our pop-up stage...raising voices for good! This youth-produced showcase takes place in a public park, and includes a community potluck picnic. Neighbors and friends are welcome (no charge).

AB Nevarez

AB has 35 years of experience producing community events with a focus on music, art, and education. With Duomo Gardens as an example, he teaches kids and adults from all walks of life about "terrain tending" and "soil stewarding," while promoting urban farms and gardens. AB also works with kids’ fundamental motor skills to improve physical literacy and coordination. As our Operations Director, his goal is to create environments that propel health and wellness, while having lots of fun!

Gina Tang

Gina is a mother, writer, and activist focused on regenerative education and community development. Prior to starting Little Shepherds Nature Lab, she helped launch an award-winning student wellness center at UCSD, the nature preschool at Mindful Ways Eco-Village, and other programs focused on socio-environmental health. Her publishing arm, The Regenerative Writing Institute, cultivates eco-literacy for people of all ages. Gina also shares handpan music and poetry.
