Painting San Diego green with a red bus!

We collaborate with local hubs of regenerative activity to provide immersive learning opportunities for kids aged 4-18, with an emphasis on resource consciousness, creative literacy, soil health, and community building.

Our 2023 Summer Enrichment Program is now enrolling.

Red Rover will run its route six times: two weeks in June, two weeks in July, and two weeks in August. Kids aged 4 and over are welcome to join us from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at our destination for the day. Parents are welcome to stay and play, too!

Red Rover is a kid-sized composting kitchen and learning laboratory on wheels. It does not transport children; parents drop off/pick up from our destinations.

Little Shepherds Nature Lab is a private parent cooperative. Our approach to education is ecological, experiential, and embodied. We publish curriculum in action, rather than advance.

Janelle Cataldo

Janelle has been a shepherd of children for over two decades. She is also a storyteller and a creative artist. Janelle previously ran nature-based summer camps up in Palos Verdes, California. She loves all the sweet things life has to offer, from guiding young ones in yoga, teaching children how to tend to chickens, and how to be mindful of the earth. Janelle loves seeing kids develop care and compassion for their peers and surroundings, and finds so much beauty in learning through intentional play.
